A decades-old border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia escalated into direct armed conflict in 2025, marked by exchanged gunfire, shelling and airstrikes. Multiple clashes killed over 100 on both sides, damaged houses and infrastructure, and displaced nearly 600,000, with Cambodia seeing the highest death toll, including 17 civilians. It is the second deadliest war in Southeast Asia in 2025. People have been bearing the scars of war - fleeing danger, surviving injuries, witnessing destruction, and suffering the endless pain of losing their loved ones to a conflict they did not seek. These photos were taken during the months of July and December in 2025.
