Every winter, humpback whales return to the warm waters of Okinawa, Japan, to give birth and raise their calves. Respecting their space and keeping a careful distance, I witnessed a quiet moment as a calf followed its mother across the sea. Their journey spoke not of spectacle, but of trust, protection, and the enduring bond between parent and child.
