Photographer's Profile
United States
I’ve been drawn to flight, light, and landscapes since childhood. Every summer, my parents took my brother and me to local airshows, where I was captivated by the raw power and grace of aircraft like the F-4 Phantom and the Vulcan bomber with its sweeping delta wings. Those early experiences inspired me in the 1960s to pick up a hand-me-down Konica 35mm SLR — not only to preserve what I saw but to hold tangible artifacts of those memories. In high school, I began developing prints in the darkroom, where I learned the fundamentals of light, exposure, and tonal control in both color and black & white. Today, I still apply those same classic principles in my digital photography, particularly when capturing the depth and drama of natural landscapes. Photography has been a constant companion throughout my life. During my time in the army, I was rarely without both a rifle and a camera, and later, as a photogrammetrist, I built a career mapping the world from images. That work took me across the globe and deepened my appreciation for landforms, weather, and the fragile beauty of wild places. Now, my work blends the precision of my professional background with a love of exploration and storytelling through imagery. Whether photographing soaring aircraft, dramatic coastlines, or remote desert landscapes, I strive to capture the ever-changing relationship between light, motion, and place — to create images that invite viewers to pause, look closer, and feel the sense of wonder that first drew me behind the lens.
