The Duchess

During a commission to capture the arrival of 'Duchess', a brand new tug boat into service on the island of Jersey, I wanted to convey a sense of power and motion and also beauty at the same time. Whilst operating the drone from a nearby pilot boat, we contacted the captain via radio to request him to perform an ocean 'donut' as tight as he could and the resulting image was far better than I had hoped for! I didn't expect the boat to hold position whilst turning but this manoeuvre created fantastic wake patterns! The patterns in the wake from both the rear engines and the front bow thruster created a cyclonic pattern almost resembling a flower with Duchess perfectly positioned in the centre of the image.
