During the late summer, I had collected some of the lupins that grown fairly prolifically around here. I had done some photography with them but then kept the flowers to see whether they would be worth photographing again when they had started to fade. As time went on, I didn't do what I had intended, but then the individual little flowers started to fall off. The colours had faded but were still quite beautiful and the texture seemed to be enhanced as the became more desiccated. I decided to scatter them across a lightpad and then image them to see how well the textures showed up and whilst the outcome of this was rather beautiful, I wondered whether by using some mirroring and distortion of those images, I could produce something a little out of the ordinary. These three mandalas are the result of that experimentation
