Life in the Andes This is Eugenio, Higidia, Carmem and her brother-in-law Ysaias. They live high up in the mountains, in the Amaru Community, in the Sacred Valley, Peru. 450 families live there and it is difficult to describe the affection and care I was received during the days I spent with them. They’re guardians of nature, its traditions and have in-depth knowledge of medicinal herbs. They produce more than 50 types of potatoes, corn, vegetables and hand weave everything they need. It's heart touching to see the ritual and devotion surrounding the potatoes they produce! There are potatoes of all colors and shapes! They work hard and carry bags weighing up to 80 kilos on their backs up and down the mountains, and do not use any machinery or chemicals. They’re extremely strong and live as one. A life lesson and great examples for nowadays reality.
