Nature and Architecture intertwined

I recently studied the architecture of the great architect Antoni Gaudi: how he tried, not only to introduce natural elements -Nature- in his buildings (Mushroom-styled cheminées , dragon incorporated into wrought iron, etc), but also tried to take inspiration from nature, for the construction itself of some elements : Bone-like structures in the balconies of Casa Batllo, and its dragon-like scales of the roof; the undulating façade of Casa Mila (imitating the life and movement of stone), just to give a few examples. In this picture I saw a similar pattern : I see this tower emerging like a tree, with the branches at the top belonging to this « tree trunk ». Or one could imagine moss growing on the rock…I see architecture and nature beautifully intertwined. Note: This is a detail of a house in the Gold Coast district of Chicago.
