There are legends among the people that extraordinary women endowed with supernatural powers live among earthly people. They can control rain and wind, cure diseases, affect wealth and poverty, take milk from cows and women in labor, cast spells and reveal the future... They are often approached with prayers and requests. In the Carpathians they are called Bosorkany.
